Jim Kasik A Season to Remember!


What a season. I am so proud of our young men that it is hard to put into words. It was an honor to coach these guys all season. I really think they were wrestling their best matches when it really counted. Our tough schedule all year prepared them for a successful finish. Al Sucha Fish Fry and Awards Night will be Friday Night

The annual fish fry to honor the high school wrestling team and the state qualifiers will be held Friday night, February 26 at the St. Marys Social Center. The doors will open at 5:30 and the potluck meal will begin at 6:30. The Schuyler Wrestling Club will furnish the fish, plates, silverware and drinks. Everyone attending is asked to bring one hot dish and one salad/dessert.

Al Sucha Schuyler Sends 2 into the Finals

The Schuyler Warriors will send 2 wrestlers into tommorrows finals. Klay Kasik and John Svoboda will via for individual titles at the 140 and 145 lb. weight classes respectively. The warriors will have 5 medalists as Esgardo Acosta, Easton Nelson, and AJ Parsons will comeback thru the wrestlebacks and try and earn a bronze medal. Al Sucha Schuyler Sits in 3rd After Session 3

The Schuyler Warriors opened up the morning session of consolations sitting tied for 4th place. When they walked out of the Qwest Center after the first two rounds of consolations the Warriors sit alone in third place and threatening to take over 2nd place. The 3 warriors with matches in the first round all recorded wins and two by pin. Unfortunately the second round was not so good and the Warriors, who lost 2 of 4 matches. Al Sucha Al's Angles After Day 1

I was as happy as a 1st grader with a new box of crayons on the first day of school. To see Schuyler qualify 8 wrestlers was just a pure joyful moment for me. I have watched and coached all of these kids at some point and I had to be as happy as their parents, but for some reason I was not at all nervous for these kids entering the first day of competition at the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships. Al Sucha Warriors Battle Strong During Day 1

The Schuyler Warrior grapplers ascended onto the Omaha Qwest Center for the 2010 Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament on Thursday morning. The Warrior eight took to the mat with high hopes of podium finishes. After two rounds of wrestling the Warrior grapplers are assured of at least four medalist. The Warriors also sit in a tie for fourth in the team race with 36 pts. Day One results are as follows:

Jim Kasik Warriors send 8 to the big dance!

The district tournament is always a tournament with the highest highs and lowest lows, and many times these come in the span of minutes. This year was no different. While we are very proud of our 8 qualifiers, we felt like we could have done a little better, but that will have to wait for next year. We feel like we are ready to compete at the Qwest and like our chances at a strong finish. We will be looking to improve on last years 7th place finish with the following qualifiers.

Al Sucha 5 Champions Propel Schuyler to Conference Runner-Up

The Schuyler wrestling team traveled to Lakeview for the Central 10 Conference Championship. The Conference Championship was figured to be Central City’s to lose, but the Warriors figured to be in a three to four team tussle for the runner-up plaque. The Warriors used a large semifinal round and a huge finals round to overcome Aurora for the runner-up plaque. Their first conference hardware since 1989.

Al Sucha Warriors Win Two Duals

The Schuyler Warrior wrestling team traveled to North Bend for a quad with North Bend, West Point-Beemer, and Blair. The first dual pitted the Blair Bears against the Warriors. The Warriors defeated the Bears 44-27. The results were:

140 lbs: Cris Orellana won by decision over Sam Bloomfield 16-3

145 lbs: John Svoboda won by decision over Casey McGuire 16-3

152 lbs. Josh Papa won by decision over Matt Zuroski 8-6

160 lbs: Easton Nelson won by decision over Jake Kru
